Re-imaging community through international art. 

Primary Objective:

To increase cultural diversity and art exposure in Logansport, Indiana by hosting recognized international artists for exhibitions, interactive teaching, and films, while embracing the new cultures of the town's growing immigrant population through direct international cultural exhibition exchanges.

 

 

Secondary Objective:

Revitalizing a prominent, blighted building in downtown Logansport as a gathering spot for visitors and residents. Using fine art as a cornerstone of Logansport’s identity and as an economic development tool by creating extraordinary and world class exhibitions which can draw visitors from the entire region and further.

 

 

 

Program Components:

  1. International Art Exhibitions

    • Quarterly Exhibitions: Launch a series of four major exhibitions per year, starting with artists from Haiti, Mexico, Italy, and the Netherlands.

      • Haitian Art Exhibition: Featuring paintings and sculptures by several Haitian artists, curated by Gallery Lakaye (Los Angeles) and produced by Eppich Arts (Napa Valley). The exhibit is intended to honor and celebrate Logansport’s newest immigrant members through fine art directly from their native Haitian culture and interactive programing with one of the featured artists.

      • Mexican Art Exhibition: Showcasing contemporary Mexican master painter and sculptor, Rogelio Manzo (Guadalajara, Mexico). The exhibit is intended to reinforce the importance of Logansport’s Hispanic immigrants’ culture and having established themselves as a keystone to the community’s future.

      • Italian Art Exhibition: Highlighting the contemporary Italian artist O’riono Galloni, with a focus on the fourth-generation marble sculptor from (Carrera, Italy) and his monumental works relating to classical Italian renaissance work. The exhibit is intended to honor the contributions of Logansport’s Italian immigrants and having established our community’s identity as a welcoming home for new arrivals, as well as an exploration into modern interpretations by highly acclaimed and NY MOMA featured artist.

      • Dutch Art Exhibition: Presenting works from the Netherlands, from Dutch Contemporary Master RAW and local artist Jason Myers. This exhibition will explore the relationship between Logansport’s internationally acclaimed artist and his connection to Netherlands based RAW studios and the monumental Dutch projects, including the two artists collaborative decade long international exhibition history together.

 

  • Interactive Elements: Each exhibition will include multimedia displays, artist interviews, and interactive components to engage visitors throughout the community.

 

  1. Interactive Teaching Sessions

    • Workshops and Classes: Offer hands-on workshops where visiting artists teach specific techniques related to their art forms.

      • Haitian Techniques: Educational painting and historical artmaking workshops about traditional and contemporary art making.

      • Mexican Muralism: Mural painting and folk-art classes, and interpretations in new media.

      • Italian Renaissance: Techniques in classical sculpture, drawing, and painting and modern interpretations of classical working methods.

      • Dutch Mastery: Workshops on contemporary Dutch art and collaboration efforts with Indiana artists on public art projects including the 60ft monumental project Gavin sculpture built specifically for Europe’s largest music and art Lowlands Festival.

    • Artist Talks and Q&A: Host sessions where artists discuss their creative processes, cultural influences, and personal experiences.

    • Community Art Projects: Engage residents in collaborative art projects, such as murals or installations, led by the visiting artists.

  2. International Film Series

    • Monthly Screenings: Curate a selection of films notable for their artistic merit. Additionally, films from Haiti, Mexico, Italy, and the Netherlands will be shown during the same period as the art exhibits from those countries.

      • Haitian Cinema: Focus on themes of resilience and culture.

      • Mexican Films: Highlight historical and contemporary issues.

      • Italian Movies: Showcase both classic Italian cinema and modern films, emphasizing works from Napoli.

      • Dutch Films: Explore themes of identity, society, and innovation.

    • Director Q&As: Whenever possible, invite filmmakers for discussions after screenings.

    • Film Workshops: Offer workshops on international cinema, discussing film history, production techniques, and cultural representation.

  3. Sister Relationship with Napoli, Italy

    • Artist Exchange Program: Establish a sister relationship with Napoli to facilitate artist exchanges, enhancing cultural ties and artistic collaboration.

    • Exchange Exhibitions: Organize exhibitions featuring artists from Logansport or region in Royal Palace of Napoli and vice versa between museum and annex.

    • Cultural Events: Host joint cultural events locally and abroad, such as festivals and international art events, showcasing the shared heritage and contemporary connections between the two towns. The first major collaboration will be the primary sponsorship of Art Napa 2026 international art festival with a featured exhibit of ancient roman sculptures from the National Archeological Museum of Napoli (1AD) alongside figurative works by native Logansport artist Jason Myers.

 

Implementation Strategy:

  1. Partnerships and Collaborations

    • International Art Institutions: Partner with cultural organizations and embassies from Haiti, Mexico, Italy, and the Netherlands to invite artists.

    • Educational Institutions: Collaborate with the local schools and colleges for integration into curricula and student participation projects. Particularly embracing the represented cultures of our community in the exhibitions.  

    • Local Businesses and Organizations: Engage local businesses for sponsorships and support, and work with community organizations to promote the program.

  2. Marketing and Outreach

    • Comprehensive Campaigns: Utilize social media, local newspapers, radio, and TV to promote events and share artist profiles.

    • Community Engagement: Organize community meetings and informational sessions to generate interest and gather input.

    • Multilingual Promotion: Ensure all promotional materials are available in multiple languages to reach diverse community members.

  3. Evaluation and Feedback

    • Surveys and Feedback Forms: Collect participant feedback to assess the program’s impact and identify areas for improvement.

    • Advisory Board: Establish a board with community members, artists, and cultural experts to provide ongoing guidance and support.

  4. Sustainability and Growth

    • Grant Applications: Seek funding from arts foundations, cultural programs, and government agencies.

    • Membership Programs: Develop programs to encourage recurring support and engagement from the community.

    • Long-term Planning: Create a multi-year plan to ensure continuity and growth, incorporating new elements and expanding the program's reach.

 

 

Conclusion:

By the Indiana museum of art bringing highly recognized international showcased artists to Logansport Indiana for world class exhibitions, local interactive teaching sessions, and international film screenings, and establishing a sister relationship with Napoli, this plan aims to foster maximum cultural diversity and artistic exposure, enriching the community and celebrating the contributions of its immigrant population. Additionally, this project will expose the international art community to the charm and possibility of a visit to our culturally growing haven of paradise and regional art and culture destination.
